In the United States, the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will begin in the coming hours. The green light for the Pfizer vaccine has been given. A huge logistics operation has been launched.
In the United States, the vaccine doses will soon leave the Pfizer factory in Michigan, to be shipped mainly by air to the four corners of the country. On Twitter, Donald Trump welcomed it: “Today our nation performed a medical miracle. I am very happy to announce that the authorities have authorized the Pfizer vaccine. The pandemic may have started in China, but this is where we are ending it, in America.” Nearly six million doses are available, and will make it possible to vaccinate against Covid-19 nearly three million Americans, mainly hospital staff.

We owe this success to Operation Warp Speed (“faster than the speed of light”), led by the American General Perna, for the logistics, and the Moroccan-Belgian and American Moncef Slaoui, for the scientific part. Nearly ten billion euros later, and on the eve of the start of vaccination, the latter recalls the historic feat accomplished: “I hope the world will remember that the pharmaceutical industry […]science, has made it possible to discover, develop and produce vaccines in record time.” “Donald Trump had publicly put pressure on the FDA, his drug agency, to approve the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as soon as possible”, specifies Loïc de La Mornais, correspondent in Washington, Saturday, December 12.
