Since 10 a.m. on Monday December 14, the 270,000 inhabitants of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) are called upon to get tested, without an appointment and free of charge. The result is guaranteed within half an hour.
The operation requires significant logistics. First of all, people wishing to be tested must complete a questionnaire, in order to provide their contact details and the list of people visited during the last days. “I want to be sure there is no problem. […] As I leave tomorrow, it is absolutely necessary that I be fixed quickly“, explains one of the first volunteers to France Télévisions.
A week of testing
In one of the screening centers, 25 people are mobilized to carry out the tests: nurses, pharmacists and even health and civil protection students. 500 people can be tested there per day, with almost immediate results. With this large-scale campaign, the city of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) wishes to screen asymptomatic people and isolate the sick if the test proves positive. The campaign should last a week.
